Creating Ori Deadwood - Creating Bonsai Deadwood - Bonsai Technique Series

Part 3: of the Creating Bonsai Deadwood this video talks about creating Bonsai Ori. See Bonsai Deadwood For Beginners and Creating Bonsai Jin

In this video, I'm going to talk to you about how to create Oris. To start with, you identify some of the, where dead wood or dead branches have been on the the trunk and the main aim is to try and scoop out this hole into the trunk. The primary task in building the Ori is to start by removing the base hole at the top. Once you've scooped out a hole that's fairly deep into the trunk, you may have two or more Ori joining together at the centre of the trunk. If that's not the case, just start off by building out the holes into the trunk and use a dibber to help with scooping out the chunks of the inside of the trunk. It works fast and you need to have a firm grip on the Dremel. Keep the Dremel at a fairly high speed. Not all the way to the top but at least about 10 15 thousand revolutions The hollows need to be having dark areas in it and as you go deeper into the hollows, just widen the hole at the bottom. It provides an illusion of depth and darkness in the hollow. And that's really how you create Oris in a bonsai.
